When approaching from western Europe, Umag is the first City you will reach. Situated on the very north of Istria peninsula, Umag is a popular touristic destination which offers a wide selection of activities; from the ATP tennis tournament to the various cultural, gourmet and theatre manifestations.
Like the rest of the Istria peninsula, Umag suffered the same historical occupations, from Romans to the Austrians, and each
of them left their marks on the city. But yet the history of Umag is closely related to the settlement of Sipar. Its ruins were found 6 km north of the town. Thanks to its location, Umag grew in significance.
The landscape of Umag reveals beautiful fortifications that offer divine scenery and hide thrilling history.
